Chiaucingo

One of the communities we work in is Chiaucingo. Our family has spent the last two days there, learning to know people. Our kids got out of school early yesterday, so we decided to go to the preschool in Chiaucingo and check out their dry latrines. It has been a little over 2 weeks since Enrique (co-worker) and I did a workshop there with the preschoolers on how to use the dry latrines. One of our goals is to check in with people on a more regular basis to make sure that the dry latrines are working properly, i.e. no smell, no flies, are clean, and are being used. We have an evaluation form that ranks all of these characteristics. Isaiah helped me (Liz) evaluate the dry latrines and reminded me that "the secret is that they are dry." He also took the picture of me filling out the evaluation form.
