Another Friend
Just wanted to post this picture of Isaiah and his friend Alexis. They are in the same class at school. (Alexis' mom is also their teacher.)

We have finished our time with MCC in southern Mexico and are now living with Martin's dad in Bluffton Ohio.

Hi, Liz and family! I finally logged on and read your ENTIRE blog this afternoon, and your experience sounds amazing! May I ask some questions? Please feel free to ponder and answer at your convenience (i.e. my questions are sooo long!); I realize you have more things to do than answer curious friends' qs. First, I'd love to know more about what kind of food you buy, what you cook, what you cook with, what's available as far as non-fresh food, if the food that is available is local or organic, or if that's discussed at all. I noticed that you have vendors stopping by the home: is this typical or more like a treat? How much of people's own gardens makes up people's diet? Second, I'd love to know what playing is like for the Isaiah and Micah. Do their playmates know of "popular (American or Mexican) culture"? Are there t.v.s and do people have them in your town? What sorts of play do most children engage in? What sorts of toys and "supplies" do most families own, and what did you bring along and what did you acquire in Mexico? Third, what are you noticing about gender relations, and how are you conforming or non to them?
Again, feel free to address whatever you feel like when/if the spirit so moves you. And I know you're still so early into your stay, so your thoughts will surely develop as the months and years go by. Just wondering what you're thinking and what some of your observations and practices are now.
As for us, I'm 32 weeks pregnant - we found out #3 is a girl. Very engaged in life in Oak Park, Chicago and, oh, I guess the world. More on us later!
So glad we met and that I have the privilege of reading about your lives!
