The Monarch Butterflies

The branches of the trees are completely loaded down with monarchs.

WOW! These butterflies are amazing!
They are in Mexico from November-ish to March-ish. Sometime in March they start heading north to Canada. In November, they start heading south again, up to 5 generations later. How they know where to go is miraculous. The monarchs look for the right temperature and humidity, landing in cedar and long needle pine trees. A lot of the old growth trees are being logged out.

Liz! sweet pictures... we have raised monarchs with our kids and we know they head to Mexico. There were none in our area this past year and we heard something had gone bad down south. It's great to see there are still a couple alive and kicking.

Hope you're keeping well.
